Make a ‘National Parks’ Bucket List
There are 62 U.S. national parks. Chances are, you haven’t been to most of them. Do some research on the parks and come up with a “bucket list” to you can start checking them off on your next trip. Don’t forget about the lesser-visited parks like Dry Tortugas, North Cascades, Isle Royale, and Black Canyon of the Gunnison.
Map Out an Itinerary for Your Next Trip
You may not be able take a vacation right now, but we can hope that in the near future we will all be able to travel without worry. Spending this down time at home is a good opportunity for you to focus on planning your next trip’s itinerary. Whether it’s a road trip route, a backpacking route, or spending four days in a city you’ve always wanted to explore, come up with a detailed plan to save you time in the future. Plus, planning your trip now will give you something to get excited about and look forward to.
Plan a Stay-Cation
Since we aren’t sure how long this “social distance” thing could last, it might be a good idea to plan a stay-cation this summer. Who doesn’t love a good stay-cation?! If you’re unfamiliar with the term, it basically means “vacation”, except that you “stay” local in a hotel, bed & breakfast, or even an AirBnb. Discover what’s in your own backyard without the hassle of traveling very far.
Spend Time Reading Travel-Related Books
Fiction or non-fiction, this would be a good time to start chipping away at that list of books you’ve been wanting to read. Whether to choose something travel-related or not is up to you, but here are some of our favorites:- Into Thin Air by Jon Krauker
- Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert
- Destinations of a Lifetime by National Geographic Society
- The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
- Wild By Nature by Sarah Marquis
